HE PURPOSE of this article is to give
Pa factual record of the historical
development of Analytical Procedure
and its evolution into the science
of Synergetics. Many persons do not know
or have forgotten these facts.

Analytical Procedure was developed by me in
late 1951 and early 1952, and tested with a
few friends. It worked -- far better than any
approach to self-development we had tried before.

Prior to the development of Analytical Procedure, I had made an extensive study of Dianetics, including Advanced Procedure. Benefits
were negligible and since Advanced Procedure
clearly contradicted Standard Procedure on the
cause of aberration, I concluded that the originator of Dianetics was not trustworthy and
freed myself of any further dependence upon
his techniques.

However, during my study of Dianetics, I
had met a number of sincere and intelligent
people. Among these was Don Purcell, a Wichita
business man who had befriended Hubbard and
nursed him back to health following Hubbard's
divorce
